BA (Accounting) – 1985

4.What was your most memorable moment as a student?
Achieving my goal by graduating whilst in full time employment with a Chartered Accounting firm

5.Describe your experience while studying at USP.
Tough, Challenging, Satisfying and Fulfilling – especially considering none of the electronic mediums and source for information available now were not available then and students had to line up to gain access to the library on a first come first sit basis

In my case the fact that I was in full time employment accommodating physical attendance to tutorials at USP campus were a significant challenge as work would require me to travel away from Suva City.  


6.What was your greatest achievement while studying at USP?

  • Juggling family commitments
  • Full time work pressures and delivering on my work related role and responsibilities 
  • Achieving positive results as a part time student in the enrolled degree course
  • As well as actively participating in community, charity and leadership organization (National Vice President Fiji Jaycees responsible for 300 membership in Northern Division)     

 7.After graduating from USP, what were some of the highlights of your career?

  • Rapid career progression and seniority within the firm with overseas transfer opportunities
  • Part time tutor at the USP for year 1 and 2 accounting students, achieving significant pass rates with part time students up until migrating to Sydney Australia
  • Continuing involvement with community, charity and leadership organization
  • Serving on various bodies as professional member
  • Recognition in the community

 8.How do you think USP helped you in your career?

  • Firstly the availability of the degree course in Accounting in Fiji
  • Rapid career progression and seniority within the firm with overseas transfer opportunities following completion of the degree
  • Migration opportunity as a professional after achieving CA (Fiji) status

 9.After graduating from USP, what has been your greatest achievement?

  • The professional career path that I chose after migrating to Australia placed me in a strong but demanding employment opportunity 
  • Enjoying significant salary and professional exposure in the chosen field 
  • Network and recognition in the profession and assisting new graduates by imparting personal experience, expertise and knowledge
  • Serving on professional bodies, most recently as Councillor of the Institute of Internal Auditors – Australia New South Wales Chapter Council     

 10.What inspires you and why?

  • Setting the goals and planning the outcome for self or those that matters and the subsequent associated sheer hard work to achieve the results.
  • Satisfaction at the end delivering the outcome with appropriate remuneration which maybe monetary, in kind, acknowledgement, a simple thank you
  • Great leaders and building on successes of talented people
  • Continuous knowledge improvement and Innovation
  • Turning a problem into a solution

 11.What advice would you give to current and future students of USP?

  • Take full advantage of all potential opportunities that come across you in whatever capacity with both hands
  • Set goals in what you want to be in life 
  • Plan to achieve the goals that you have set for yourself and ensure you are on track to achieve
  • Be strong and persevere as nothing is gained without pain
  • Sky is the limit for those who wish to succeed in life more so now with the availability of modern technologies

Whatever you chose to do, set goals, plan to achieve, and do your parents, family and country proud.
